JSR Medical hosted the Luncheon Symposium of the Korean Society of Coloprotology 56th Annual Meeting on April 2, 2023.
The 56th Korean Society of Coloprotology Annual Meeting was held at Gyeongju, South Korea from March 31 to April 2, 2023. More than 600 colorectal surgeons across the country participated in this year’s annual meeting and JSR was a host for the Luncheon Symposium 2 (Title: Introduction of Drain-TG for Extra-peritoneal Tunneling – An Alternative Drain Tube Fixing Method to Prevent Migration).
Dr. Kang Seong-il (current Assistant Professor of Colorectal Surgery at Yeongnam University Hospital) introduced an innovative drainage tube guide device developed by JSR and the case report of the patients who have received drainage tube insertion using the device. According to Dr. Kang, the result was satisfying and the migration problem was significantly reduced, compared to the conventional insertion method. Not only the device helped fixate the drainage tube at the anastomosis site but also its insertion period could be controlled up to 2 months in his cases.
JSR official said, “Drain-TG is a breakthrough for the conventional drainage tube insertion method as it secures the tube’s position with almost no migration at all, while the conventional insertion method shows 30-40% of migration problem within 4 PO day. It will relieve the concerns of the surgeons about the effectiveness of the conventional drainage tube and allow them to immediately detect the anastomotic leakage. As a result, the surgeons will only need to provide conservative treatment without any surgical intervention.”
Professor Kang Seong-bum, the Chairman of the Symposium, stated that, “Everyone can address the questions and issues but not everyone can develop a solution with product realization. It may look like a simple device but its surgical outcome was great, based on my case studies.”
JSR’s Drain-TG is a FDA Device Listed product which is currently being sold in the Korean market. A new re-usable model is scheduled to be released in the market in this September.
